2010 Council to increase from 3 to 5 members

At the 2008 General Election the voters of Medford Lakes approved a ballot question to increase the number of Council persons from 3 to 5. Pursuant to the statute this increase shall take effect at the next regular municipal election which will be held on May 11, 2010. This election will be to fill two existing council seats and two new council seats. In previous years the Borough voters had adopted a referendum calling for council to have staggered terms. At the 2010 election, two of the council seats will be for two year terms and two will be for four year terms. The Borough Clerk will work with the Borough Solicitor and the County Clerk on how the staggered council positions will be decided. Should you have any questions please call the Clerk at 654-8898.

Permits required for POD's, dumpsters & clothing bins

Borough Council has adopted an Ordinance to establish certain rules and regulations in an effort to regulate the use and placement of drop-off storage containers, trash dumpsters and roll-off containers.

The new Ordinance is now in effect and requires all owners and/or users of such containers apply for and receive a permit from the Borough pursuant to the provisions and standards of the Ordinance.

Copies of the new Ordinance and permit applications for existing and future containers are available in the administration offices at Municipal Cabin.
